Do you know that it is possible to be partly on holiday and partly helping less fortunate people in Kenya? Here is the opportunity, donate some of your time and work among the pastoral communities in the great Rift Valley of Kenya. Your holiday, time and money would be well-spent building and rehabilitating hospitals, feeding the sick, teaching Kenyan children and training young enthusiastic entrepreneurs.
Imagine the joy, happiness, fellowship, and understanding these interactions shall bring to you and the deprived communities! You will spend a short time with these people, but the impact of the interaction is a long life experience. You will not only come home with souvenirs, but also with many stories and experiences that you will tell for the rest of your life.
Besides taking your time to teach children, farmers etc, train in building and hygiene, you shall have the opportunity to learn and appreciate different cultures and possibly the causes of poverty in these communities. Please remember, all these will be done within earshot of some of the world's largest wild animals, such as elephants, buffalos, rhinos, lions, and crocodiles. This is why you should not miss this opportunity, take up the challenge and explore Kenya.
There are three main work locations, that is in the North Rift among the Turkana people, the South Rift among the Maasai people and in Nairobi, Kibera slums, Africa 's second largest slum dwelling. Volunteers will work and stay among these communities, hosted by missionaries or community workers. Learning teams (7 to 14 members) of volunteers are also welcome, for short periods (one to two weeks) of time. We are looking for volunteers to train these less fortunate people and exchange new ideas. |
